Mercy, Pardon and Glory

Mercy, Pardon and Glory

In 1988, there was a terrible car accident involving two young men.  One was killed at the scene of the accident; but the driver recovered.  As I was praying for the young man to be healed both of his physical wounds and his emotional scars from this accident, this song was written.  Not only can we can go to Calvary for ourselves, we can take someone else with us.  There we will find mercy for our souls, pardon for our sins and all the glory of Christ Jesus our Savior.

Mercy, Pardon and Glory

Mercy and pardon and glory were up there on dark Calvary
Oh, I wonder - how did they get there - When Jesus died for me?

Once my life was wrecked by sin and strife, I had no peace within
I searched and I searched, but I searched in vain.
There was nothing that could free my soul from sin.
And then I went, I went to Calvary
And I looked up and saw that tree.
I cried, “Lord, Oh Lord, please forgive me.”
And He saved me and set me free.

For mercy and pardon and glory were up there on dark Calvary
Oh, I wonder - how did they get there - When Jesus died for me?

Once I had a friend, a friend so true, whose life was shattered and torn
It seemed there was no hope, no hope for his life
There was nothing that anyone could do
And then I went, I went to Calvary
And I took him, I took him with me
I cried, “Lord, Oh Lord, won’t you heal him.”
And, you know, the Lord heard my plea.

For mercy and pardon and glory were up there on dark Calvary
Oh, I wonder - how did they get there - When Jesus died for me?
